The city of Shoreline got its name for its place between Puget Sound and Lake Washington. It sits along the “shoreline,” which was the way locals referred to this area of Washington before Shoreline’s incorporation in 1965. The history of the city dates back to 1890, when people began moving to the area in advance of the Great Northern Railway.
