The Model # of your water heater is located on the label, sometimes referred to as the name plate or rating plate.

How often should heat pump maintenance be performed?

Heat pump maintenance is more than an inspection. It should be performed by a professional per manufacturer instructions, a minimum of once a year. Annual maintenance lowers operation costs, maintains equipment efficiency, and identifies possible safety issues.

How often should boiler maintenance be performed?

Boiler maintenance is more than an inspection. It should be performed by a professional boiler technician per manufacturer instructions, but at a minimum of once a year. Annual maintenance lowers operation costs, maintains equipment efficiency, and identifies possible safety issues.

How often should maintenance be performed on heat pumps and ductless heat pumps?

All heat pump maintenance should be done by a professional per manufacturer instructions, at least once a year. Annual maintenance lowers operation costs, maintains equipment efficiency, and identifies possible safety issues.

How often should I clean my electronic air cleaner?

An Electronic Air Cleaner (EAC) should be cleaned regularly. The 4” to 5” thick electronic air cleaner cells need to be cleaned every 1 to 3 months depending on how quickly the accumulate dust residue. Even a thin layer of dust diminishes the cells’ ability to remove particles from the air, and keeping the EAC cells clean is paramount for this filter to work correctly. The thin prefilters need to be cleaned at least every 3 months.

How do I install my filter?

Before installing the filter, make sure the power is off to the system. Different filters have different styles of access. Once you determine the filter access, simply remove the old filter and install the new one with the arrow pointing towards the furnace or air handler.

How often should I replace my filter?

Replacing your furnace filter depends on your air quality and the type of filter you have. As a rule of thumb, a 1” thick disposable pleated filter should be replaced at least every 3 months. A 4” to 5” thick disposable pleated filter should be vacuumed every 3 months and replaced every 6 or 12 months depending on air quality.

What is a heat pump?

A heat pump moves heat that naturally exists in the air from the outside of the home to inside the home. The heat is transferred by air blowing over a coil that is then distributed throughout the home through duct work or air blowing over a coil of a ductless unit and then into the space it serves. In the hotter months it reverses this process, moving the heat from inside the home to the outside just like an air conditioner does.

Can I perform my own furnace maintenance?

Homeowners can typically replace filters, but true HVAC maintenance requires a professional with the proper tools and experience. Our heating contractors will fine tune your furnace and perform the necessary safety and operation inspections.

How often should heat system maintenance be performed?

Ideally, once a year, but professional heating maintenance services should be completed per manufacturer instructions.

How do I light my furnace pilot light?

Many modern furnaces DO NOT have a standing pilot, and it is dangerous to attempt to light the pilot manually. If your furnace will not light, there is a problem requiring a professional to diagnose and repair.
